A New Civil War? Why or Why Not?

In 1861 the United States erupted into the notorious Civil War. Can the United States expect now in the twentieth century, one hundred and fifty nine years later at George Floyds death, for another civil war to break out? Polarization over political views and controversy on the basis of human rights in relation to governmental institutions has dominated both the media and citizen’s personal lives. Books, articles, videos, reports, etc. have come out with strong opinions on both ends of various debates including Critical Race Theory, The 1619 Project, the abuse of power by police officers to act on racist beliefs or lack thereof, etc. The United States remains in a whirlwind of political debate on racism and it’s existence in today’s age, leading some to correlate this era back to that of the Civil War from 1861-1865. The Civil War was said to be fought on the basis of humanity and human morality of race and racism within the United States and how that impacts people of color within society. One has to wonder whether a new civil war, still centralized around racism, is being fought today but rather through various types of assaults between citizens and/or political parties, rather than with guns and armies as the first civil war was. Is this simply a modernized repetition of the past?
